In a vibrant and diverse world full of opportunities, some individuals stand out for their spirit of exploration and dedication. This is the story of my journey—one filled with learning, creativity, and purpose. From studying finance to learning new languages, from the bustling streets of Toronto to the serene charm of Ottawa, my life has been a pursuit of passion and determination.
After spending over a decade immersed in the fast-paced energy of Toronto, I felt drawn to a more relaxed and mindful way of living. Moving to Ottawa wasn’t just a change in location—it was a conscious decision to embrace life at a gentler rhythm. This picturesque capital city, with its rich history, cultural depth, and peaceful atmosphere, aligned perfectly with the lifestyle I envisioned.
I enjoy a laid-back life and find joy in simple pleasures. In my free time, I like to take leisurely walks around the neighborhood, explore local restaurants, and unwind with a quiet drink at a cozy bar. These small, everyday moments bring happiness and balance to my routine.
I’ve always had a strong passion for managing personal finances since a young age. I left home and lived independently at 18 and successfully funded three university degrees through a combination of OSAP, part-time work, and meticulous financial planning. I regularly track my spending, record transactions, and even built custom tools in Excel and Access to better manage and forecast my finances.
This discipline has not only helped me stay debt-free and organized, but it’s also empowered me to make informed decisions and maintain long-term financial stability. Personal finance, to me, is not just about budgeting—it's about building a life of freedom and resilience.
I grew up speaking Mandarin Chinese, and when my family moved to Canada in 1999, I started English at the age of five. Driven purely by personal interest, I later taught myself Japanese through anime and even volunteered as a subtitle translator on gaming websites.
Recognizing the importance of bilingualism in the capital region, I’ve recently taken on the challenge of learning French—one of Canada’s official languages. Beyond career opportunities, learning new languages allows me to connect with diverse cultures, communicate more effectively, and open doors to countless experiences.
My interests extend beyond numbers and languages—I have a deep appreciation for the arts. I’m especially drawn to classical artwork and music. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed visiting museums in Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto, and I’m a devoted fan of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, particularly for its classical performances.
My academic foundation was built in Toronto, where I earned a degree in Financial Mathematics from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) between 2013 and 2018. Equipped with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of finance, I worked for two years in the private sector. However, after relocating to Ottawa, my goals evolved. I now aspire to join the public service, focusing on roles in auditing, finance, or accounting.
I approach life with care and thoughtfulness. I avoid impulsive decisions by carefully evaluating risks and planning ahead. This steady and consistent approach helps me stay on track and make meaningful progress toward my goals.
My passion for learning, commitment to my goals, and love for classical art make me a unique and vibrant soul in this vast universe. As I continue my journey of exploration and growth, one thing remains clear—my life is a canvas painted with colors of inspiration and purpose. May my story encourage others to embrace life’s richness with the same enthusiasm and dedication, and to create their own masterpiece along the way.
