About This Page

Hi, and welcome to my personal page!

You can call me Yan or Yannie. I've completed my Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Finance – Co-op, and I'm currently finishing my final term in BCom with a Specialization in Accounting at the Telfer School of Management. I'm expected to graduate by December 2025.This academic path has fully prepared me for CPA PREP, and I’m excited to begin the CPA PEP program to kick off my professional accounting journey.

This page was created to help you get to know me better and connect with me professionally.

Work Experience

So far, I've completed three professional co-op placements:

  • Summer 2022: Office Associate at a private IT company, where I gained valuable insight into how large corporations operate and experienced a professional work environment.
  • Winter 2023: Junior Data Analyst at Statistics Canada, where I contributed to data processing and analysis.
  • August 2023 – Present: Accounting Support at Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), where I continue to develop my financial and administrative skills.

I'm currently seeking opportunities in Finance, Accounting, or Data-related fields where I can apply my academic training and professional experience.

You can find more details about each role on my [Resume] or [Blog] page.

About Me

My family immigrated to Canada in 2000. I lived in Toronto until 2018, when I decided to move to Ottawa for my studies and a change of pace.

In my free time, I enjoy the simple things in life—breathing fresh air, enjoying good food, and catching up on sleep. I also like going to the gym (usually for a treadmill run) or taking short walks that often end with a $1 ice cream cone from McDonald’s.

For entertainment, I regularly scroll through memes on social media—both lighthearted and dark—as a quirky form of mental fuel.

My first language is Mandarin Chinese, and English is my second language, which I’ve spoken since arriving in Canada. I also learned Japanese through anime and formal post-secondary courses, and I’ve achieved N3 certification on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). Currently, I’m learning French, and I’d place myself at an A2 level.
